Background

The sewer pumping station (SPS) shares a boundary with two neighbouring properties who noticed odours from the station which gas testing confirmed. Melbourne Water remedied this issue by installing a new Air Treatment Facility (ATF) to the station. The new air treatment facility consists of a of a bio-trickling filter followed by an activated carbon filter which remove 90% of odours.

Scope of Service

  • Design and modelling of the Air Treatment Facility
  • Preliminary works (service locating, tree removal, construction of new access and vehicle cross over)
  • Installation of external duct from the existing well (source of the odour) to the new ATF building
  • Construction of the ATF building
  • Fabrication and Installation of Air Treatment Facility vessels
  • Bio-trickling and activated charcoal vessels lifted into the building and positioned
  • FRP ducting connected to the ATF
  • Access platform for the activated carbon vessels installed
  • Vent stack (outside the building) installed and connected to the FRP duct and extraction fans
