Key Facts

  • All residential buildings, and nearly all commercial and industrial buildings, require a hot and cold-water supply.
  • A building’s sanitation typically involves connections to waste disposal or below ground drainage systems, but the work itself is conducted above ground.
  • A plumber’s work affects the supply of water and sewer supply to and from a building. So, plumbers need critical knowledge and skills to protect the integrity of the water/and or sewer supply, and the health and safety of the building occupants.


Aqua Metro’s registered plumbers are able to understand and apply the compliance requirements of Water Supply and Sewer Supply plumbing work that include:

  • AS/NZS 3500 National Plumbing and Drainage Code.
  • AS2419 Fire hydrant installations – system design, installation and commissioning.
  • AS 2441 Installation of fire hose reels.
  • AS/NZS 2845.2 Water supply backflow prevention devices – registered air gaps and registered break tanks
  • the Watermark certification trademark, to ensure the use of only approved materials and products that are fit for purpose.

Scope of Service

The scope of services generally comprises of the following:

  • installing and testing both drinking and non‐drinking heated or cold-water services.
  • installing and testing solar hot water services
  • fabricating and installing hydrant and hose reel systems
  • conducting water pressure tests
  • installing and connecting backflow devices (but not the ongoing maintenance testing/ commissioning)
  • fabricating and installing sanitary stacks used in multi-storey buildings
  • installing piped vents and penetrations ensuring the roof and/or wall penetrations are watertight
  • applying different methods of venting,
  • installing suspended pipework for fixtures
  • cutting into existing pipework for additional fixtures.


  • Our registered plumbers carry out WHS requirements as per VBA (CPCPCM2043A) and basic emergency life support (HLTFA211AP).


  • Works were carried out with all requisite environmental controls in place to ensure no liquid could not enter stormwater system on site.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • All works were carried out in coordination with the Clients team.
  • Liaison with council and local residents for seamless delivery.
